Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals

Affiliate Member $100.00 (CAD), prorated to $16.67 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Affiliate Members are individuals who meet the requirements of one of the following categories:
a) a member of the Law Society of Alberta, or any other law society in Canada at the discretion of the Board;
b) a member of an educational institution approved by the Board endorsing legal support professionals, Legal Assistants and Paralegals, at the discretion of the Board.

Alumni Member $100.00 (CAD), prorated to $16.67 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments This category of membership is reserved for existing AAPP members who have retired from the profession, but wish to maintain their membership with the association.

Corporate Member $300.00 (CAD), prorated to $50.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments A Corporate Member is any organization or corporation which supports the purposes of the Association. A Corporate Member shall be represented by a single individual and is not intended to provide a means for a law firm to extend membership privileges to employees who would otherwise qualify for membership under another category.
Corporate Members do not have voting privileges.

Independent Paralegal Member $120.00 (CAD), prorated to $20.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Independent Paralegal Members are individuals who practice independently within a limited scope. Proof of Practice and Errors & Omissions insurance is required for this membership category.
Independent Paralegals have voting privileges.

Legal Support Professional $100.00 (CAD), prorated to $16.67 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Legal Support Professional Members are qualified legal support professionals (legal assistants, legal admin assistants, Law Clerks, etc)
a) who have completed a Certificate or Diploma program recognized by the Association; or
b) have been employed for a minimum of 2 years as a legal support professional.

Paralegal Member $120.00 (CAD), prorated to $20.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Paralegal Members are individuals who are currently employed as a paralegal, and meet the following requirements:
a) hold a certificate, diploma or degree issued by a post-secondary institution recognized by provincial legislation in Alberta, or a post-secondary institution recognized by the Association; and
b) has been employed as a paralegal (performing substantive legal work) for a minimum of 5 years, certified in writing by a supervising member of the Law Society of Alberta.
Paralegal Members have voting privileges.

Student Member $20.00 (CAD), prorated to $3.33 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Students Members are in full-time or part-time studies, in a legal assistant or paralegal program at an institution recognized by the provincial legislation in Alberta, and recognized by the Association.
Student Members do not have voting privileges.
